Entry Draft 2016: 5 QMJHL players to watch


The Montreal Canadiens are officially eliminated from the playoffs for almost 24 hours. It's time to think about the draft.


If everyone agrees that the American Auston Matthews will be the first to hear his name at the draft, some Quebecers could also hear them in the early rounds.

Here is a list of five QMJHL players to watch in the NHL amateur auction.

Julien Gauthier (Val-d'Or Foreurs, right winger, 6 feet 4 inches, 225 lbs)

Gauthier has not had an incredible season in the category of the points amassed 57 points in 54 games. However, at 225 lbs and 6 ft 4 in, several teams that look for a power forward could hardly say no.

Gauthier is 4th in the ranking of the Central midseason recruitment NHL and 16th among North American skaters ranking in March of the ISS (International Scouting Services)

Pierre-Luc Dubois (Screaming Eagles left winger, 6 ft 3 in, 202 lb)

The name of Pierre-Luc Dubois constantly returns as a selection of the top 10 of the next draft.

Pascal Laberge (Tigers, 6 ft 1 in, 162 lb)

Laberge has good eyes widen in Game Prospect in February CHL in scoring with three points in a 3-2 win over Team Orr over Team Cherry.
The energetic Tigers player has amassed 68 points in 56 duels this season in the QMJHL.

It is ranked 31st position in the mid-season rankings of NHL Central recruitment and the 28th level of the ISS among North American skaters.

Frederic Allard (Chicoutimi, 6 ft 1 in, 179 lb)

The offensive defenseman of Chicoutimi has amassed a collection of 59 points in 68 games in the QMJHL this season third on the back of players.
It is ranked 36th in the midseason rankings of NHL Central recruitment among North American skaters.

Evan Fitzpatrick (Phoenix, 6 ft 3 in, 206 lb)

Fitzpatrick played 54 games with Phoenix this season, the fifth highest total in the QMJHL. He won 18 wins, maintained a goals against average of 3.42 and an efficiency rate of 896 with the Phoenix, who finished 15th overall.

It is ranked 2nd in the ranking of the Central midseason NHL recruitment among the guardians of North American goal.
