Dismantling a meth network

A police operation was underway Wednesday in connection with an organization of production and methamphetamine trafficking in the Greater Montreal.

According to Daniel Thibodeau, spokesperson of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), 14 people were referred to an arrest warrant. One of them is sought by the police. This is Erwin Bermudez, a 31-year-old resident of Saint-Hyacinthe.

The police had to conduct a search in the Montreal North sector. "More arrests could occur as a result of the search," said Mr. Thibodeau.

Fifty officers from the SQ and Montreal police forces, L'Assomption and Saint-Sulpice, from Mascouche, Terrebonne and Richelieu-Saint-Laurent were on the ground.

SQ planned take stock of searches and arrests late Wednesday afternoon.
